Speaking Of Uncomfortable

Brad, Vannah and McKenna are emBARKing on a new experience. Brad took a few adults and 8 of our youth from Village Hope Church out to Pennsylvania to a New Tribes Mission training facility.  This is a place where they teach missionaries what it is like to work with indigenous people groups.  This week they have to sleep in hammocks at night.... have no electricity and no warm water....I keep thinking Brad is pondering this thought.....

He really dislikes camping and "roughing it" so I got to hear a little (when he found cell phone reception) about the two hours of sleep he got last night in his hammock and the funny noises his hammock neighbors make at night :P  They have some class work this week, but also a lot of interesting activities that they will get to experience...like....visiting a mock village where there are actors that dress and act like people from a tribe...the kids have to try to meet the people and start learning some words from them in the language of that people group.  They also get to go on a geocaching adventure to try to learn a little more about navigating in unfamiliar surroundings....and participate in a roleplay to learn what it is like to go through customs :)

I love that because I had a HORRIBLE experience the first time I traveled abroad because I had NO CLUE what I was doing as a freshman in college who had never even flown anywhere...ha!  It is amazing I am not in a jail in Israel somewhere due to the sword I bought and tried to pack in my carry on bag....I am still happy they let me keep it...the interrogation was interesting :)
