God Is Near

This was the view from my front yard to across the street today...well, except for the stars....I added those because I loved that there were stripes in the field and it just seemed fitting!

So many reasons to be thankful!  

We hear the melody of a song, Butterfield's Lullaby, played often at funerals by the U.S. Military.... but, it began as a piece to signal a day's closing....and to send the troops back to camp for the night. It kind-of meant, "Goodnight and light's out, Soldier".

Fading light dims the sight,

And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright

From afar drawing nigh -- Falls the night.

Day is done, gone the sun,

From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;

All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

Then good night, peaceful night,

Till the light of the dawn shineth bright;

God is near, do not fear -- Friend, good night.
