It is hard to comprehend how Jesus could willingly give up the luxury, pleasure, glory....etc....etc......of His place in Heaven to submit to His Heavenly Father's will for Him to enter our fallen world and offer complete redemption through His own brokenness.
I was thinking about the way God chose to introduce this perfect gift to us....in a manger. I remember from my French class that word is similar to the French word meaning "to eat"....obviously, we know it as a box for holding animal feed....but, what if GOD chose it specifically to show us that Jesus, God's WORD in flesh, would satisfy our hungry souls? So much of Jesus' teaching was to show the world that faith in the one true God...our beliefs...were not external....they needed to be swallowed, internalized and become a part of our being. They were not just rules for custom-sake, but laws of love to govern us....heart, soul, mind and strength.
