Enjoying one of our favorite after church restaurants.....Los Tres Amigos....they still have kids meals for $1.99 on Sundays....LOVE THAT.....and their chicken chimis :) Tonight, we enjoyed celebrating Christmas with our friends and church family in Parma, MI with our Christmas In The Village service.
Brad had planned for four monologues....a wiseman, a shepherd, Elizabeth, and the innkeeper....they were funny, but really touching as well....I think he found them from some of the Skit Guys stuff.
In between each monologue was a musical piece and a short devotional thought. Savannah and her friend, Celeste, played Go Tell It On The Mountain on their flutes after the shepherd monologue.
Brad and three friends from church like to sing together for a men's quartet and it is always a favorite with both of our congregations. It was funny because tonight as they walked out to get their microphones there was already applause just because they were going to do a quartet number :)...they sang a Southern Gospel song, Glory To God In The Highest. I really enjoyed all three services today...every Christmas I learn new things about the story of Christ's birth, the reason He came, and my heart's response to all of it....there is so much to be thankful for :)
I guess I am on a bit of a Charles Spurgeon kick lately since I shared that incredible poem, Immanuel, the other day.....that poem actually made me start crying as I read it....anyway, here is a quote from him that expresses the way I feel about the Christmas story every year....and this applies to all of scripture.
"Nobody ever outgrows scripture. The book widens and deepens with our years."
Thanks be to GOD for HIS INDESCRIBABLE GIFT!
