WOW...I am sore from yesterday's fun at the water park....particularly from my boogie board experience where I felt like a surfer girl...like, totally for sure....OWIE!! I woke up this morning, rolled out of bed and my legs, arms and shoulders are telling me all about it. I was relaying the story to a friend at work and she said, "Bet you didn't know you had muscles there"....it's true....sometimes we don't realize what we have until our pain notifies us. At first I had a negative attitude about the way I felt, but then I started to think...."hey, this pain is really a good thing...so now I just have to keep working hard to build muscles so eventually they will work for me."
It's interesting where pain can lead us. So many times pain or difficulty is what leads us to God's Word and to prayer where we have one intense workout. But it is going against the flow to develop a habit....a discipline. A constant spiritual workout is what will build the type of muscle that will show us results in Christ.
So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is GOD who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. ~Philippians 2:12~
I love this verse for describing our spiritual workout...it shows that we will perspire fear and trembling and we will keep working out regardless of who is with us or watching us....because we know that GOD is at work in us and through us. That is our motivation to be spiritually fit....the pure privilege of being totally and FOR SURE used by GOD.
