We traveled all the way to the edge of the future yesterday....what comes next? HA! But seriously, we reach the edge of what we know or have experienced often and we venture into new territory. That can be scary because we don't know outcomes. I have never raised a teen and tried to navigate those sometimes tumultuous waters, I have never planned out a children's wing in a church....there are a bunch of "I have never's" that become GULP "I am's" in life...so how do we take those steps into dragon lands? When I was about ready to graduate college and had no clue what I was going to do...I wrote a little poem to express what I was feeling.
Beyond Here There Be Dragons
I am scared to say, I'm at the edge of what I know
beyond this point, no map is made
Beyond here, there be dragons - at least that's what I assume...
because when I come to what is UNKNOWN I feel a sense of doom
Beyond here, there MIGHT be dragons, but the forest looks quite calm
I have a GUIDE to lead me - but I'm scared to step beyond
so I'll stand here a while and listen, then maybe I'll proceed
just a step or two.
Beyond, there have been NO DRAGONS
at least none that I have seen
My GUIDE has walked new paths and I've followed His lead
(I do think I'll still tread softly...just in case)
Beyond, there were NO dragons
and I have seen such sights
The road my Guide has traveled has not filled my heart with fright!
BEYOND is now exciting; a future to embrace and there will never be a
dragon of fear
that my Guide cannot slay!
dragon of fear
that my Guide cannot slay!
