ASAP

McKenna's band teacher, who is becoming one of the most interesting people I have met, always gives his students some kind of weird music trivia or quote at the end of their assignments that they have to comment on.  Yesterday, I was checking over her homework and laughed out loud at the crazy trivia he had added.  I had to check on YouTube to see if I could actually watch/listen to part of it.  Here's the brief description:

"As Slow As Possible is a musical piece by John Cage and the subject of one of the longest-lasting musical performances yet undertaken.  It was originally written in 1987 for organ and is adapted from the earlier work ASLSP 1985; a typical performance of the piano version lasts 20 to 70 minutes.  In 1985, Cage opted to omit the detail of exactly how slowly the piece should be played.  The performance of the organ at St Burchardi church in Halberstadt, Germany, began in 2001 and is scheduled to have a duration of 639 years, ending in 2640."

I listened to part of it....GRUELINGLY SLOW....I mean, I felt like I was dying after a couple seconds!  But, for some reason, it made me laugh really hard....Kenna was like, "Mom, are you OK?!"

Sometimes, in the middle of life, it kind-a feels like that slow piece, right?!  The beauty in most pieces of music is that we can experience the whole thing the way the composer means for us to feel it and understand it. We get the whole message in a matter of a couple minutes and then we get another.  It is kind-of interesting to think of our life to God in the same way that we experience music.  To us, our life is like that really slow piece....sometimes we don't hear much musicality, harmony, and changes in tempo because we are travelling in it between each note and rest.  BUT, GOD can take in our whole life from beginning to end and it can be like sweet music to His ears.

Maybe it is kind-a like this song....I love the way the Piano Guys cover it and the video...

I think sometimes God plays a little of our song to us at SUPER ALLEGRO just so He can smile when we start humming it.  Wouldn't that be awesome?  If you ever start humming a song that you really don't know....maybe it's your song :)
