Danielle kind-a has a beau, Eli. He has liked her for a really long time if you calculate time according to 3rd graders. Her valentine from him this year said, "I love you, you love me, you will be my destiny" (not a question, a statement)....and that wasn't even the printed wording on the valentine, that was handwritten on her's in addition to the generic sentiment :) Don't worry, she told him "Eli, I like you, but I don't LOVE you like that." (GOOD GIRL!) He loves buying her things and has given her several necklaces. Yesterday, she came home with a new necklace from him....a mood necklace.
SIDE NOTE: I actually think that gift is very clever. I mean, how many misunderstandings or arguments in marriages would we avoid if we actually knew our loved one's mood before saying what was about to come out of our mouth? Just sayin', Eli might be on to something brilliant.
I love when kids get part of an idiom, but don't have it completely right. As Danielle was showing me her new necklace and telling me all about how Eli said, "Open your hand" and gave it to her when they were walking to the bus, Karly very excitedly exclaimed, "Eli's crushing her...Eli's crushing her!"....I think she meant Eli has a crush on her ....Loved that! :)
Kassi and Danielle saw this picture and said to me..."But, but you HAVE to breathe and NO ONE can lick their elbow!" Concrete thinking! :)
I asked her if she said thank you for the necklace, but she just grinned and blushed when I asked her that and said, "ummmmm, I forgot".
So...."You found out, I've got a crush on you"?
