"But I Still Want One." ~Tin Woodsman

The Wizard of Oz was right....hearts are not practical.  If you love someone, you will pour yourself into them and want only good for them.  So, when they make bad choices that you know will probably cause them pain or grief and may wound others in the process....ouch!...now your heart needs some mending.  Over time, I think we gradually stop loving as we lose empathy for people....maybe part of it is to protect ourselves from pain.  Or, maybe it's because we don't feel like we can trust others and we become suspicious. Perhaps we have seen the same person make the same wrong choices so many times that we have lost all patience for them.  It is easier to allow our hearts to become weighted down with calluses, bitterness, mistrust, and cynicism than it is for us to allow them to be moved to compassion, hope, graciousness and unconditional love.

Then, we are....STUCK....with hearts that cannot be moved.
We try so many different alternatives to avoid the painful process of receiving and mending a broken heart...BUT scripture says:

For you do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering.  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.  Psalm 51:16-17

There have been a lot of times when my response to a situation has not been compassionate and I have needed to examine my heart to see why it was not moved.  I can even honestly say I found some rust there within the last 24 hours.  But, if we ask GOD to soften our hearts so that we can love as He loves, He pours his anointing over us.
