Resistance

Resistance is a weird thing....when I first think of that word, I think of maybe being resistant to change.  BUT, I have been learning a whole new meaning to resistance as I received an exercise bike for Christmas.....not that I love resistance now.....but, the harder the level, the harder I work and the more I gain (or lose)....that's another weird thing :).....I do have some personal exercise and weight loss goals....this is a significant year for me.

Hey, change isn't always easy.....sometimes we do just choose the path of least resistance.  When I was thinking about some new ideas for our family this year I had two main goals.....I would like us to get into God's Word as a whole family and I would like us to be intentional about ministering to others outside of our family....almost like a family mission.  So, a couple nights ago, I brought these ideas up at dinner.....we selected a Bible reading plan and will be working our way through the New Testament together and praying together at 8pm....we also talked about Christmas really being a condition of our hearts and not just a date on the calendar, so we are beginning the Twelve Months of Christmas where we will do something each month to intentionally show God's love to others.  We worked on something last night and were able to bless some people with it today....I think it will be wonderful to watch the girls find fulfillment through acts of service, kindness and generosity.

Brad was reading Psalm 8 the other day after we had talked with all the girls about these two family goals.....God's timing is so perfect to teach us things, but also to "LIKE" things when we get it right....have you ever experienced His wonderful affirmations?....in verse 2 it reads:

Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. (Talk about a good definition of resistance, right?!)

Teaching our children to praise, prayerfully seek God, and serve Him while loving others is so very important.  I really want to capture these moments while we can and use them to make a difference.
