You know, to say that is asking for the supernatural....for miracles in our lives. We don't have to fear that....in fact, we need to ask for more amazing things from GOD.
Tonight's teaching was so simple, but wonderful....the lesson was taken from the scriptural account of the very first miracle Jesus performed. I have always thought it was a funny way for Jesus to start His ministry by turning water into wine at a wedding....and having a brief confrontation with his mother over the timing of this first miracle, but there are so many interesting things in scripture and how GOD uses them for His glory... that is why some theologians and philosophers call God's Kingdom, "The Kingdom of the Absurd". I love that He is so unpredictable, but trustworthy and faithful. He barely ever accomplishes His will in any way I could predict.
Anyway, about the lesson for us from the first miracle. I will just pass this to you as Jim Cymbala presented it to us. THIS IS SO SIMPLE, but God wants us to experience miracles....so here is the application from the passage.
1. Jesus was invited to the wedding. Invite Jesus into all areas of your life.
2. When Mary realized the problem she took it straight to Jesus. Take your problems to Him right away.
3. Mary told the servants to do whatever Jesus told them to do. Do whatever Jesus tells you to do. No matter how odd it may seem, if it is not in opposition to the Word of God, act in obedience.
4. When the master tasted the wine, he commented to the Bridegroom that most of the time the best wine is brought out first and the cheaper wine is presented at the end, but he was amazed that the Bridegroom had brought out the best wine at the end of the party. :)
That is the application.....the BEST is to come! We AIN'T seen NOTHIN' yet. Even if you have seen miraculous things of GOD and can tell amazing stories of the past, He is not finished with you. He desires to draw you near and nearer to Him and make your relationship with Him richer than it has ever been.
AND, even the best of what we taste in our lifetimes can never compare to being welcomed into His glorious kingdom.
