Safe Keeping

A flash of light and a crash of sky
awoke me with a start
my sweet dreams, shattered, from the fierce pounding in my heart
Frantically, I searched the space for my FASTEST
running shoes
From this storm, I'd race away....
just escaping CERTAIN DOOM

And so I ran in the wind and rain
With hope against hope, I silently prayed
that when the eye of this disaster came
I'd fall into a sheltering place
My protection from reckless pain

Then, at the HEIGHT of my horrible dream
you caused me to awaken
and recalling the sounds and scenes I'd envisioned
this child was quite shaken...
BUT, you whispered as a mother would that I had only been dreaming
and you promised me that held in your hands,
I'd always find safe keeping.

When I typed "with hope against hope"....I thought, "I wonder where that comes from?"
It actually looks to have originated in Romans 4:18...

Even when there was no reason for hope,
Abraham
(this is one of those places....you know, where your name would also fit)
kept hoping.
He (She) was (is) fully convinced that God is able
to do whatever He promises.
