Brad had purchased some bibles he wanted to have engraved for graduates at our church so we took a trip to Lansing to a Christian bookstore. We decided to go out to dinner since the girls all just finished school for the summer and worked hard to get good grades. This time we went to Texas Roadhouse. I use dinners out as teachable moments for our girls to practice their manners, eye contact, and speaking skills because I make them all order for themselves and I am pretty specific about how I want it done....complete sentences and no mumbling...if you ask them about it they will probably roll their eyes :P
It was Kassi's turn to order and she was speaking to the waitress and using good eye contact. Kassi is actually one who enjoys her opportunity to shine while ordering. Then, she politely asked for "a hick"......the waitress asked her to repeat that and Kassi said, "Yes, may I please have a hick?" I thought she was making some kind of weird joke since we were at a Texas Roadhouse....it was amusing and I was thinking, "okay, where is she going with this?"....but, she wasn't quite sure how to pronounce the Hi-C part of Fruit Punch. :) "That's what I like to call it!", she said. Uh-huh, sure.....good cover, Kassi! If only we were eating at.....
