Please and Thank You!

There are things that willpower alone cannot overcome.  You can't really will yourself to sleep, you can't will yourself to forget something because whenever you try...you just remember it all the more, and you can't use willpower to stop worrying about circumstances.  Sometimes God gives us different instructions to overcome our obstacles.
You know how sometimes people wonder if it's okay to bring small requests to God?...I've thought that so many times too, so I am not making fun...just amused by this thought.....EVERYTHING IS SUPER tiny TO GOD!  So, no matter how big or small I judge my dilemma at the time....it's small to GOD, but HE says..."IN EVERY SITUATION"....so that means, YES...BRING IT...it will not burden Him!  By prayer, we acknowledge our dependence on Him and He actually delights in that...He wants us in that relationship with Him....always.
Some situations in life or weaknesses in ourselves will require us to pray more deeply... earnestly.... or fervently... these types of prayer become petitions to Him.  This is different than a simple prayer because it requires us to bring Him enduring, persistent requests....to keep going to HIM over and over for our needs and NEVER GIVE UP.  Like I mentioned this morning, there are some things that are a part of His character that we can ask for and receive everyday like His grace, strength, patience, wisdom, and compassion.  The petitions and prayers all do transforming work in us as we learn to lean on Him for everything.
Everything we need and ask of Him can be completely covered by thanksgiving because we know He is more than able to do what we ask of Him...I don't know of any other circumstances where our "please" and "thank you" can be so simultaneously expressed.  The truth in that is so awesome!
I confess, Lord, I often choose to worry when I should pray.  Thank you for not viewing my requests as meaningless or insignificant.  Thank you for the open invitation for me to talk to you IN EVERY SITUATION.  I pray that I will develop a heart of thanksgiving as I learn to seek you FIRST.
