Always Be Yourself

Unless you can be BATGIRL.....then always be BATGIRL...isn't that what they say?!  :P

Today was showtime!  All the gymnastics classes were superheroes for this show and Karly's class got to be BATGIRL!

Can you say, CHEESE?...Karly was thrilled :)

Karly and a few friends from her class

This picture makes her look so much older....weird....
I feel like it is one of those age progression photos.

This is a good quote for tumblers....."A hero is not one that never falls.  He/She is the one that gets up, again and again, never losing sight of his/her dreams."  ~Unknown

Right before the gymnastics show, Brad got a call that one of the men from our church had fallen from a roof and was critically injured, so Brad went straight to the hospital to wait with the family for all the tests to come in and I took the girls to the show.

Following the show, Brad and I traveled to Ann Arbor to visit a friend who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia...today was his first day of chemo treatment.  His wife said he was doing better today than she has seen him in a few days, so that was a praise.  I had an idea this morning to get him a superhero shirt for each day of the week, so we along with a few other friends gave him seven shirts and verses to encourage him. When he opened the card with the verses and the gift bag with all the shirts....his wife said we must have read their minds because he has been spiking some fevers as his body is fighting an infection and he has been sweating through his shirts....so they were in need of t-shirts for him.....ISN'T IT AWESOME HOW GOD TAKES CARE OF THESE THINGS....I wasn't even thinking of fevers....I was wondering if he would even be able to wear them in the hospital.  We chatted for a while and then had a time of prayer with him.  At the end of the prayer, he looked up and was smiling and pointing to the tv.  He had been watching a softball game before we came into his room and he had lowered the volume, but left the game on.  At the end of the prayer, the tv was zoomed in on two fans at the ballgame who were dressed up like the Hulk and Captain America....two of the shirts we brought him.  God never misses a beat! He's right there in every moment with us....giving us perspective on friendship and love...bringing our joy bubbling up to the surface, so we can truly celebrate life even in the midst of our struggle :)

That's how a superhero learns to fly....
