WOW, Kassi and I had the perfect 2 days on her class field trip to Mackinac Island....we could not have asked for better weather! She is learning all about Michigan history and I was thrilled to go with her this time. We got to eat at the Grand Hotel and I got to browse the hotel for the Somewhere in Time pics/memorabilia :) That movie coupled with a family trip to Mackinac Island when I was 10 years old always made me dream of getting married at that location.
All the students in Kassi's class had an assignment to complete while we were on the field trip...they were grouped into threes and had to do a video report on a certain topic/location. Kassi's group wanted to report on the Butterfly House, so we made our way there during some free time and filmed them. Kassi had a special treat while we were there as a butterfly decided to land on her hand and rest for a while.
Kassi and friends practicing their lines so they could report from the Butterfly House
The butterfly that befriended Kassi :)
She was SUPER excited that it stayed on her hand for so long...and so was I....what a great KODAK moment.
We toured the Island the first day and then Fort Michilimackinac and Sawmill Creek in Mackinaw City on the second day. The night before day 2 we were trying to get our hotel room cooled off because it was pretty warm....but our air-conditioning unit wasn't working and it was cooler outside than inside anyway....so we just left our balcony sliding door open, so it could cool off through the screen. We fell asleep that way and in the morning I woke up to brightness and went over to the door to pull the curtains closed and give everyone a little longer to sleep. BUT, I was about to witness an incredible sunrise, so I didn't want to go back to sleep. I sat on the balcony and watched it and was amazed at God's artistry!
ALMOST....
And, VOILA!
Forgive the Au Naturel look....no hair or skin products were used in the making of this pic....yikes!
Our attempt at an ussie photo near the lake...Kassi is so light sensitive I could not get many pictures where her eyes are open...
This one was better because I found a good shaded area while we were touring the fort.
We had a fabulous time and learned a lot!
