Karly's First Gymnastics Competition

Kenna, Karly and I took a road trip to Kalamazoo today for Karly's first gymnastics competition at Western Michigan University.  She did very well for a first experience.  They gave ribbons for different levels for each category.  She placed highest in her floor routine winning a blue ribbon....then won white ribbons for the other events.  White is kind-of equivalent to a bronze level.

On the way over to Kzoo Karly told me she had butterflies.  You know those mom moments where you are like...."hmmmm....how much should I acknowledge this"?....so I just said, "Maybe we should name your butterflies".....and I started giving her some name suggestions..."confidence, bravery, excitement...?"  Then she said, "NO, mom, I think I just want to throw them up!"

Alrighty....I guess my naming idea didn't go over so well.  Maybe their names should have been Ralph and Chuck....but, she did not actually get sick. :)

McKenna made her this sign from one of the posters we got when we went to the U of M gymnastics meet.

Meeting up with Grace at the event :)

Warming up her floor routine....Western Michigan University's mascot is a Bronco, so they kept saying things about the girls being future Broncos which I thought was humorous considering the Broncos are playing in the Super Bowl today.

Getting ready to lead her team to the floor....a perk of being the shortest :P

Scoping out the bar with Coach Lisa....will she need a springboard or not?  Love the hands on her hips!

Grace and Karly watching their teammates perform on the bars

Saluting their fans at the end of the meet

Karly with her ribbons from each event and her medal

I  like her a LATTE :P  We all three shared one after the event.
